Ruth C. Peterson, 86, of Claysville, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, in her residence, following a brief illness.
She was born June 11, 1923, in Buffalo Township, a daughter of Van Albert and Martha Wright Carson.
Mrs. Peterson graduated from Trinity High School. She worked at Hazel-Atlas Glass Company, drove a school bus in the McGuffey School District, and owned Peterson Service Station and Peterson Farm.
She was a member of Taylorstown Presbyterian Church, the Buffalo Grange for 60 years, the Washington County Cattlemen�s Association and an honorary member of OVTPA.
Mrs. Peterson enjoyed taking care of animals, traveling and baking.
On June 16, 1955, she married Earl B. Peterson, who died January 30, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzan Milvet of Claysville; three grandchildren, Melissa Faye (Timothy) Shaner, Michelle Earlene Milvet and John W. (Beth) Milvet, all of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Anna May Stanford.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28th. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Buffalo Grange, 429 Pleasant Valley Road, Washington, PA 15301; or to Washington County Cattlemen�s Association.
