George William Amos

George William Amos, 82, of Washington, died Friday, January 2, 2009, in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born May 21, 1926, in Hopewell Township, a son of Albert Brady Amos and Blanche Marie McDaid Amos. Mr. Amos had worked at Brockway Glass and enjoyed playing cards and gardening. On November 7, 1997, he married Louretta Carolyn Reedy, who died November 26, 2007. Surviving are a son, Jim (Frankie) Amos of Washington; four daughters, Millie Amos and Sandra Amos, both of Washington, Linda (Kevin) Merritt of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, and Donna Dropko of Acadia, Florida; a brother, James Amos of Washington; a sister, Mary Scariot of Washington; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Robert, Ivan and Homer; and a sister, Marjorie. Friends will be received on Monday, January 5th, from 2 till 6 p.m., the hour of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
