Jennie Madeline Piccioni, 83, of Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in UPMC-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh. She had been in declining health. She was born March 25, 1926, in Washington, a daughter of Domenick and Katherine Secilia Filoso. Mrs. Piccioni had worked in the dietary and laboratory departments of Washington Hospital. She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church. On April 4, 1948, she married Charles A. Piccioni, who died May 10, 1985. Surviving are three daughters, Katherine (William J. Flanigan) Simpson of Pittsburgh, with whom she made her home, Diana (Dr. Kenneth) Lentz of Upper St. Clair and Colleen Nipower of Washington; a sister, Florence Malie of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren, John C. Simpson, Katherine Kincak, Brandon D. Simpson, Melissa Lentz, Rachel Lentz, Matthew Lentz and Rica Nipower; two great-grandchildren, Domenick Anthony Simpson and Marena Malone; and a son-in-law, John H. Simpson. Deceased is a sister, Margaret Veltri.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 5, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with Father Thomas O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
