Mabel Angelina King, 88, of Washington, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 23, 1920, in Hickory, a daughter of Angelo and Ivey Young Rossi.
Mrs. King was a 1938 graduate of Hickory High School, where she had been a member of the basketball team.
She was a homemaker.
On August 11, 1939, she married Robert King, who died in 1960.
Surviving are three sons, Robert W. (Cathy) King of Burgettstown, Charles Richard (Becky) King of Washington, and John W. (Linda) King of Wheeling; one daughter, Nancy Ferrar of Washington; three sisters, Alice Auld and Jane Kreer, both of Washington, and Margaret Leopold of Hickory; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Deceased are four brothers, Harry, Ernest, Billy and Billy; three sisters, Paulina Reed, Bessie Popp and Mary Chipps; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8th, with Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Burial will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
