Lydia Beatrice Harton, 86, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 11, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of Alonzo and Garnett Greer Vankirk.
Mrs. Harton was a homemaker and a member of the Moose, Slovak Club and Polish Club.
In 1945, she married Clifford Lee Harton, who died in 1968.
Surviving are two sons, Ted (Tina) Harton, of Washington, and Rickey (Amy) Harton, of Canonsburg; three daughters, Connie (Harold) Cummins, of Washington, Candy (Jamie) Pruitt, of Gloster, VA, and Vickey (John) Macerelli, of Canonsburg; several step children, including, Ron (Dolores) Harton, and Paul (Sandy) Harton, both of Washington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are five sisters, Opal, Mattie, Gertrude, Leah and Emily; a granddaughter, Renae Brownlee; a great grandson, Andrew Rainey, and her long-time companion, Edward Roberts, who died November 1990.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. Additional visitation will be held, Saturday, January 24, 2009, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., the hour of service, with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
