Dorothy Varesio

Dorothy Varesio, 83, of Canonsburg, died Monday, December 22, 2008, following a lengthy illness. She was born April 17, 1925, in Clairton, a daughter of Abraham and Bertha Joseph Shaheen. She was a homemaker and a Christian. Mrs. Varesio enjoyed bingo. On May 7, 1948, she married William Joseph Varesio Sr., who died September 27, 1996. Surviving are four daughters, Peggy Dingle and Louella Nopwaskey (Chuck) Zelenka, both of Washington, Jeanne (John) Palonder of Perryopolis and Carol (James) Coffield of Houston; 15 grandchildren, John R., William, James, David, Jason, Jessica, Alisha, Tonya, Stephanie, Casey, Christina, Erica, Nicholas, William and Bobbi Jo; and 13 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, William Joseph Varesio Jr.; and a daughter, Cheryl Roberts. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at Noon, Wednesday, December 24th, with Rev. Stephen Getchel officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
