Lawrence James Cook, 56, of Washington, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 23, 2008, in The Washington Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1952, in Washington, a son of Mary M. Saniga Cook of Washington and the late James A. Cook.
Mr. Cook was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and Penn State University.
He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after 25 years of service and for the past year had worked in surveillance at the Meadows Race Track and Casino.
Mr. Cook enjoyed golfing and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Blue Knights.
Mr. Cook was Catholic and a member of St. Hilary Church.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a son, Lawrence Cook Jr. of Erie; two brothers, James A. (Beth) Cook Jr. of Canonsburg and Robert A. Cook of Washington; three grandchildren, Hannah, Quenton, and Chloe Cook; and his former wife, Toni Colteryahn Roskowski.
Deceased is a brother, Randall J. Cook.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27th, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
