Richard Allen Doncals, Sr., 75, of Washington, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 27, 2009, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a son of Nicholas A. and Mabel Van Allen Doncals.
Mr. Doncals graduated from South Hills High School in 1951, earned a bachelor�s degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1955, and a master�s degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1958.
Mr. Doncals was a nuclear physicist with Westinghouse for 37 years and enjoyed the extensive traveling involved with his position. He later had his own cattle farm, which he also enjoyed.
He attended St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Doncals was a veteran of the United States Army.
On February 24, 1962, he married Donna Elaine Byers, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard A. (Kimberly) Doncals, Jr. and Damon (Erin) Doncals, both of Washington; two daughters, Desiree E. Doncals, M.D. (Martin Jakubow) of Canton, Ohio, and Deborah E. Doncals of Canonsburg; and six grandchildren, Alexandra, Colette, Sarah Beth, Stephanie, Nicholas and Samantha.
Deceased are two sisters, Irma Doncals, who died in childhood, and Dorothy Straub.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 31st, in St. Patrick�s Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, with Father Jack Bateykefer as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
