Mary L. Platt, 87, of Washington, formerly of Joliet, Illinois and Bridgeport, Virginia, died Friday, January 30, 2009, in Donnell House.
She was born January 1, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of Antonio and Lucia Cornetto Capo.
Mrs. Platt was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School and worked as a packer at Hazel Atlas #3.
She enjoyed reading and being with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Platt was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
On July 16, 1951, she married John Joseph Platt, who died June 29, 1969.
Surviving are two sons, William (Linda) Platt, of Washington and John Robert (Carol) Platt of Bloomingdale, Illinois; five grandchildren, Gavin Platt, Falyn Platt, Tracy ((Jim) Slowik, Jeffery (Caroline) Platt, and Jason (Wendy) Platt; and several great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Mero “Moon” Capo, Joseph Capo and Dominick Capo; and two sisters, Carmella Franell and Theresa Capo.
Friends will be received 3 till 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 3rd, with Father William Feeney officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
