Randle Allen "Sonny" Glendenning, Jr., 72, of West Maiden Street, formerly of Fayette Street, Washington, died Thursday, September 24, 2009, in the Washington Hospital. He had been ill since early August.
He was born March 8, 1937, in Frankford, a son of Randle A. Glendenning, Sr. and Ethel M. Iams Glendenning.
Mr. Glendenning attended Washington High School. He worked for several years at the Holiday Inn, for 15 years at McGraw-Edison and for four years at Coen Oil.
Mr. Glendenning enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On March 8, 1962, he married Nellie Cumberledge, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ronald A. (Roslyn) Glendenning of Iowa; three daughters, Marsha E. (Sam) Keener of New Freeport, Tammy L. (Dave) Thompson of Washington and Amy E. (Don) Workman of Waynesburg; three brothers, John N., James A. and Harry E. Glendenning, all of Washington; six sisters, Anna Marie Fulton, Geraldine M. Pryor, Katherine E. Plants, Martha J. Provance, Ethel Molinaro and Leona Zitkovitch, all of Washington; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, David Glendenning.
Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 28th, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Circle Food Pantry, 34 West Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301.
