Gino L. Novi, 95, of Washington died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in his residence.
Gino was born April 24, 1914, in Pittsburgh, a son of Ceasar and Emelia Novi.
On June 15, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army serving in; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the World War II Victory Medal, four Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Citation.
He was honorably discharged on November 25, 1945 with the rank of Technician 4th Grade.
Gino worked as an export manager for forty years, retiring in 1977. At one time he worked at Grant Paper and Federal Paper.
He was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and enjoyed dancing, traveling and gardening.
Gino enjoyed good heath and life as a husband to Marie Lazar whom he married May 8, 1943, and who survives, and a father to; Maryann, Mary Jeanne, Gene Thomas and David and grandfather to; Michele, Paul, Charlene and Jonathan, and brothers Paul, Joseph and Harry Novi.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m, the hour of the mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday September 30, 2009 in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. The family suggests memorial contributions to John F. Kennedy School Scholarship Fund, 111 W. Spruce Street, Washington, PA 15301.
