Frances Evelyn Gaus

Frances Evelyn Gaus, 89, of Bentleyville, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, in Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born December 15, 1919, in Cumberland Township, Greene County, a daughter of William Orris and Frances Tustin Longstreth. Mrs. Gaus attended Waynesburg School until her family moved to Washington County. She graduated from Morris Township High School in Prosperity and then attended Tomlinson Adult Training School for business management. For 20 years, she worked as a sales clerk at Sears. While living at Thomas Campbell Apartments, she was involved with their hospitality group. Mrs. Gaus enjoyed sewing, her cats and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Amity United Methodist Church for over 60 years. On October 10, 1938, she married John C. Gaus, who died February 5, 1997. Surviving are a daughter, Kaye (Gale) Stockdale of Bentleyville; 11 grandchildren, Robert Cosgray, John Gaus, Michael Gaus, Tracey Gaus Dean, Doug White, Scott White, Paul Dearing, Vicki White, Nannette Bosang, Charles Bosang, and Stephanie Bosang Davis; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Nancy Bosang; and a son, John C. Gaus, Jr. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 11th. Burial will follow in Amity United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
