Betty Mathiot Smith Bobick

Betty Mathiot Smith Bobick, 85, of Washington, died Friday, February 20, 2009, in the Donnell House. She was born June 22, 1923, in Masontown, a daughter of the late Robert Walter and Pauline Frances Keener Smith. Mrs. Bobick was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School and Pittsburgh Academy. Prior to her retirement from Western Center, she was secretary to the Safety Director. She was a Charter Member and the first Worthy Matron of Shawnee Chapter in Peters Township, a member of the Eastern Star, Mother Advisor of Shawnee Chapter Rainbow for Girls, a member of Chartiers Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter. She was an active member of Avery United Methodist Church. On April 21, 1951, she married Peter Morris Bobick, her husband of fifty-seven years, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert Smith (Ellen) Bobick, and a daughter, Paula Keener (David) Sims, both of Eighty-Four; four grandchildren, Joseph and John Hegedus, Danielle (Tim) Kearns, and April Sims; and a great granddaughter, Melanie Hegedus. At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at Avery United Methodist Church, at a date to be announced by William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. The family suggests memorial contributions to Donnell House, c/o Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or Avery United Methodist Church, 1100 Gabby Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
