Lois B. Batove, 88, of Washington, formerly of Avella, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born June 21, 1921, in Avella, a daughter of Ross and Twila Carl Cheesebrough.
Mrs. Batove was the valedictorian of Avella High School class of 1939.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, being with friends and family, and traveling to Canandaigua Lake in New York.
Mrs. Batove was a member of the Avella School Board and Avella Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and had been a deacon.
On September 3, 1943, she married Joseph Batove, who survives. They had just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
Also surviving are a son, Charles (Barbara) Batove of Hickory; two daughters, Rebecca Wotring of The Villages, Florida, and Lois Jo Marflak of Henderson, Nevada; four grandchildren, Bill (Rachel) Wotring, Mark (Lisa) Wotring, Leslie Batove and Christopher Batove; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyene Wotring, Monica Wotring and Brice Wotring.
Deceased are a daughter, Twila Batove; two brothers, Ross Cheesebrough and Wayne Cheesebrough; and a granddaughter, Holly Batove.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 10th, with Rev. Richard Narus officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
