Charles William Dille

Charles William “Pap” Dille, 82, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in the Washington Hospital. He was born July 28, 1927, in Prosperity, a son of the late Harley P. and Mildred C. Cole Dille. Mr. Dille was employed by Drakenfeld as a supervisor in the paint pigment department. He was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church in Prosperity. Mr. Dille served in the United States Army with the 463rd Army Air Forces from September 25, 1945, until his honorable discharge on March 28, 1946. He then re-enlisted on March 29, 1946, and served with the 1944th Engineering Aviation Company in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. He was honorably discharged as a Technician, fifth grade, on April 9, 1947. Mr. Dille was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. On October 25, 1948, he married Estella C. Irey, who died December 6, 1988. Surviving are two sons, Scott C. Dille and his wife Barbara, and David C. Dille and his wife, Colleen, all of Prosperity; three brothers, George Dille of Washington, Richard Dille of Huntington and Ely Dille of Prosperity; five grandchildren, Tara Durr, Tammy LaVerde, Jason Dille, Jeremy Trabucco and Monica Trabucco; four great-grandchildren, Holly Ann Adams, Brian Gottschalk, David Gottschalk, and Kaylynn LaVerde; and three step-great grandchildren, Natosha and Courtney Durr and Amanda LeVerde. Deceased are three brothers, Sam, Stewart and James Dille; and a sister, Arna Mae Dille. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2009, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
