Ruth Joyce Stolfer

Ruth Joyce Stolfer, 71, of Amwell Township, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center. She was born March 10, 1937, in Rochester, New York, a daughter of Howard and Kathrine Shrontz Zimmerman. After graduation from high school, she attended Alfred University, majoring in art. For 24 years, she worked in the accounting department at Sears. Mrs. Stolfer was a member of First Lutheran Church, Washington. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, genealogy and spending time with her grandchildren. On May 13, 1961, she married James A. Stolfer, who survives. Also surviving are a son, James A. (Jeanne) Stolfer, II of Washington; a daughter, Merrie Ellyn Stolfer of Coconut Creek, Florida; one brother, Howard (Patsy) Zimmerman of Grandville, Texas; a sister, Rebecca Knox of Kennewick, Washington; and three grandchildren, Joshua Reid Stolfer, Abigaile Anne Stolfer and Robert James Stolfer. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6th, in First Lutheran Church, North Franklin and West Walnut Streets, Washington, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating.
