Charlotte A. Kanya

Clerk at Veterans Administration hospital. Charlotte A. Kanya, 50, of Washington, died unexpectedly Monday, October 19, 2009. She was born July 7, 1959, in Washington, a daughter of Patrick Shannon of Mt. Lebanon and the late Donna Zecker Yescavage, and was raised by her late grandparents, Charles and Wilma Amon Zecker. Ms. Kanya graduated from Trinity High School and attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for two years. She worked as a clerk at Brecksville, Ohio, Veterans Administration hospital for 19 years. Ms. Kanya was Catholic. Surviving are a half sister, Lisa Fay of Frederick, Md., and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation or service. Private burial was held in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, was in charge of arrangements.
