Mary Louise Flis, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in the Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born September 13, 1925, in Washington, PA, a daughter of Samuel M. and Rose Maggi Comito.
Mrs. Flis was the founder and had owned and operated Flis 5 Bridal Shop for more than 28 years. The business continues today and is now known as Alison's Bridal and is owned by her daughter Alison.
She was a member of Miraculous Medal Church.
She enjoyed her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans which she had done for her family and many friends, reading and doing puzzle books.
Mrs. Flis graduated 23rd in her class at Trinity High School, and attended Penn Commercial.
On September 23, 1945, she married Albert John Flis, who died on March 28, 2005.
Surviving are daughters, Rosemary (Bill) Tarr, Alison (Dan) Chunko, all of Washington; Eleanor (John) Van Lenten, of Louisville, KY; and Kelly (Willie) Flis, of Washington; 3 sisters, Emma Aquilino, Norma Tracanna and Beatrice Lee, all of Washington; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Taresa Toth.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 23, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., in Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands, with Father John O’Shea as celebrant.
