Ruth Gear Leonard, 96, of Washington, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 in Washington Hospital. She formerly lived in Dry Tavern.
She was born in Washington on September 1, 1912, a daughter of George John and Leona Belle Gear Fleissner. Mrs. Leonard was a 1931 graduate of Washington High School as well as Washington Business College.
At one time, she worked at Valentines Pharmacy and also at G.C. Murphy’s on Main Street. She last worked as a Pharmacy Tech in the Washington Hospital Pharmacy for more than 17 years. She was Baptist by faith. She is a Life Member of the Rices Landing American Legion Auxiliary.
On December 24, 1967, she married Wilbur Sheldon Leonard who died on July 18, 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Richard L. ( Maryann )Cahill of Washington, and Thomas H. ( Margaret ) Cahill of Bowling Green, Kentucky; eight grandchildren as well as twenty great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother George Fleissner and a sister Betty Johns.
No public visitation will be held and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Horne Cemetery.
