World War II veteran.
John Bowen Morgan, 92, of Washington, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1916, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of Evan R. and Effie Hutchinson Morgan.
Mr. Morgan attended Trinity High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater in England, France and Belgium. He received the American Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Morgan was an inspector at Jessop Steel for 37 years.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion and SOAR.
On September 21, 1940, he married Evelyn Julian, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Kay Morgan of Boston, Mass., and Judith Ann Ruschell of Washington; three brothers, Lawrence, Harry and William Morgan, all of Washington; four sisters, Rachael Kinkle of Florida, Mary Ann Guido, Joan DePaoli and Barbara Gagich, all of Washington; four grandchildren, Jamie, Evan, Rose and Matt; and two great-grandchildren, Alysia and Mason.
Deceased are two brothers, Evan H. and Richard Morgan, and two sisters, Margaret Richmond and Gertrude Taylor.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, with Pastor Floyd Marasco officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
