John L. Donahoo, Sr.

Play Recorded Service   John L. Donahoo, Sr., 88, of Washington, died Friday, September 11, 2009, in Washington County Health Center. He had been in declining health the past two years. He was born August 31, 1921, in Finleyville, a son of William Harvey and Carrie Salisbury Donahoo. Mr. Donahoo was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, 376th Anti-Tank Co., serving from November 30, 1942, until his honorable discharge on December 12, 1944. When young, he worked in the coal mines for ten years. He then worked as a truck driver for 42 years, driving for Beatty Trucking, Gibbon, Aero and Suwak. Mr. Donahoo was a long-time horse lover and was involved with Pleasant Valley 4-H and was a member of Lone Pine Saddle Club, where he was a past-president. He was also a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, the Independent Club, and the Eagles Club. On July 8, 1953, he married Hazel Dolores Evans, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John Leslie Donahoo, Jr.; two daughters, Michelle Lynn, wife of Mick Abajace, and Judith Lee Crumrine, all of Washington; a sister, Aileen Householder of Virginia Beach, Virginia; three grandchildren, Michael Abajace, Brian �B.J.� Crumrine and Megan Crumrine; three great grandchildren, Keegan, Skyler and Ashton Abajace. Deceased are a daughter, Kimberly Lou Donahoo; a great-grandchild, Piper Abajace; six brothers, Loren, Robert, Harold, Donald, William and Eugene; and a sister, Moynell Griffith. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Lt.d., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 14th, with Rev. Patricia Rizor officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery.
