Martha Z. Pettit, 82, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in her residence.
She was born September 1, 1923, in Marianna, a daughter of Fred and Annesia Zaharoff.
Mrs. Pettit was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church.
On October 6, 1941, she married John R. Pettit Sr., who died November 28, 1998.
Surviving are a son, John R. Pettit Jr. of Gas City, Ind.; five grandchildren, Trisanne Lamb, Rebecca Lynn Sharp, Judith Ann Pettit Pennock, John R. Pettit III and Timothy James Pettit; and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, James G. Pettit; three brothers, Pete, Stephen and John Zaharoff; a sister, Ann Eusepi; and a sister, Alice.
All services will be private and at the family's convenience, with the Rev. Paul Leone officiating. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, is in charge of arrangements.
