William H. Patterson Jr., 66, of Washington, died Friday, September 11, 2009, in his home. He had been ill since February.
He was born February 26, 1943, in Washington, a son of William H. Patterson Sr. and Ruth Kennedy Patterson.
Mr. Patterson graduated from McGuffey High School in 1961.
He was a carpenter in the construction trade and a machinist at Millcraft Industries and had worked for Rozner Refuse as a truck driver.
Mr. Patterson enjoyed repairing small motors and riding motorcycles.
He was a longtime member of National Pike Steam, Gas & Horse Association, was an inspector for the Horse & Mule Association in Pennsylvania from 1981 to 1984, and was proud to be a life member of the National Rifle Association.
On July 8, 1982, in Lancaster, he married Beverly June McCartney, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Matthew (Cassandra) Patterson of Washington; a daughter, Autumn (David) Langham of Washington; a brother, Ray (Mary) Patterson of Moundsville, W.Va.; and three grandchildren, Charity, Jesse and Lily.
A sister, Ruby Leone, is deceased.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., the hour of services, Tuesday, September, 15, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 331 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301, or to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
