Clettus “Clet” Vaun Naser, 80, of Washington, died Friday, July 17, 2009, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
He was born June 24, 1929, in Chartiers Township, a son of Frank and Mary Ann Saytor Naser.
Mr. Naser was a graduate of Chartiers High School in 1948.
On September 16, 1949, Mr. Naser joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was an Engineer Equipment Foreman. He engaged in the capture and securing of Seoul, Korea, participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin Campaign, North Korea, and participated in operations against enemy forces in South and Central Korea.
He received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Republic of Korea Medal, and United Nations Medal. He attained the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged December 19,1952.
Mr. Naser was an equipment operator and member of Operating Engineers, Local 66, of which he was a life member.
Mr. Naser was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, ice fishing, and hunting.
On December 31, 1953, he married Phyllis Wilkinson, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Hackett, of Washington, and Sally (Skip) Michalski, of Canonsburg; a brother, Roy (Betty) Naser, of Amity; a sister Charlotte (Al) Greene, of Ohio, a half sister, Donna (Bob) Pfaff, of South Dakota; and a grandson, Daniel John “D.J.” Michalski.
Deceased is a brother, Shannon Naser.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 pm., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, July 20, 2009, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
