Virginia Viehman Brezinski, 74, of Hickory, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at home surrounded by her family. She had been ill for six months.
She was born October 8, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of Walter Ellsworth and Ester France Cole Viehman .
Mrs. Brezinski was a graduate of Washington High School in 1952.
She was a homemaker and at one time worked at her families business, Viehman’s Pharmacy, for a number of years.
Mrs. Brezinski formerly was a secretary to the vice-president at the Observer–Reporter.
She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and Buffalo Homemakers.
Mrs. Brezinski also worked at the Washington County Fair and the Hickory Apple Festival.
On April 19, 1958, she married James David Brezinski, Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James David Brezinski, Jr., and Jeffrey Scott (Jennifer) Brezinski, both of Hickory; two daughters, Janice Brezinski, of Hickory, and Carrie (Jeff) White, of Ellicott City, Maryland; a brother, Walter E. Viehman, Jr. of Washington; a sister, Phyllis Cimino, of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Mitchell White, Tyler Brezinski, Christian Hower and Zachary Brezinski.
Also surviving are Amy and Josh Sasfai, who were like grandchildren to her.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
