Stella M. Evans

Stella M. Evans, 79, of Houston, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in the Washington Hospital. She was born May 28, 1930, in Hickory, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Briggs Rea. Mrs. Evans was an assistant store manager for Fashion bug for 12 years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, dancing and traveling to the ocean and beach. Most importantly, she was a wonderful mother to her children. Mrs. Evans was Lutheran by faith. On July 7, 1947, she married Charles R. Evans, who died January 16, 1989. Surviving are two sons, Joseph D. Evans of Washington and C. Keith (Kathi) Evans of Centerville; two daughters, Terri Evans (William) Brehler of Fernley, Nevada, and Judith (Dale) Flowers of Canonsburg; a sister, Margaret Schofield of Hickory; and six grandchildren, Tara, Adam, Ethan, Sarah, Jesse and Amanda. Deceased are a brother, Howard Bissett, and a sister, Virginia Arrigo. Friends will be received 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., the time of service, Saturday, October 24th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Private burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery will be held at a later date.
