Robert Keith Allen

U.S. Army veteran Robert Keith Allen, 83, of Washington, died Thursday, August 6, 2009, in Donnell House, after a brief illness. He was born October 19, 1925, in Washington, a son of Nellie and Roy Allen. Mr. Allen was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II. For his service, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 4, 1946. He worked at the George Washington hotel from 1958 to 1991. Mr. Allen was a member of Wolfdale Bible Chapel. He enjoyed bowling at Alpine Lanes and fishing. On March 14, 1952, he married Betty Chase, who died January 11, 1997. Surviving are three sons, David Lee Allen, William Keith (Shelley) Allen and Roy Eugene (Mary Lou) Allen, all of Washington; five daughters, Rebecca Ann (Robert) Thomas of Prosperity, Helen Elizabeth Johnson and Alice Sue (Butch) Patterson, both of Washington, Irma Dale Allen of Aleppo and Robin Louella Haskey of Washington; 21 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son in law, Larry Haskey, a brother and a sister. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 10, with Pastor Edward Woods and Pastor Stephen Spence co-officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Claysville American Legion, James R. Hunt, Post 639. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
