Retired UPS truck driver was U.S. Navy veteran Raymond Louis Hall Jr., 66, of Washington, formerly of Dunbar, went to be with his maker Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in Washington Hospital. He was born May 2, 1942, in Connellsville, a son of L. Raymond and Betsy Huey Hall. After graduation from Dunbar Township High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, having served from June 22, 1960, until his honorable discharge March 20, 1964. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Following his service, he worked as a truck driver for UPS, retiring after 37 years of service. Mr. Hall enjoyed woodworking, trips to Colorado and all outdoor activities, especially kayaking, canoeing and camping. For more than 40 years, he was a member of Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. On March 9, 1963, he married Brenda Kay Lynn, who survives. Together, they raised four surviving children, Jeffrey Hall of Canonsburg, Michelle (Pete) Steffan of Washington, Gregory (Christy) Hall of McDonald and Brian Hall of Claysville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Natalie Hall Harps, Sammantha Hall, Joshua Ray Hall, DJ Higgins Jr., Kaitlyn Steffan, Victoria Steffan, Brandon Ansell and Kayla Clark; and four great-grandchildren, Brendan and CJ Harps and Sharon and Shannon Leonard. He also leaves Gary McGaughey, whom he considered a brother. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Ruth Eleanor Hall; a granddaughter, Tammie Leonard; and two great-granddaughters, Amanda Steffan and Kelly Leonard. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at noon Tuesday, May 5, in Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 331 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301; or Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 502 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington, PA 15301. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
