Ernest LaPosta, 81, of Washington, died Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Humbert Lane.
He was born February 10, 1928, In Weirton, WV, a son of Frederick and Lucia Bellasaria LaPosta.
Mr. LaPosta worked as a construction worker with Millwright Local #2235.
He attended Fourth Presbyterian Church.
Mr. LaPosta served as a Private First Class in the United States Army Air Force, during World War II. He was a member of Squadron A 3501st AAF Base Unit. For his service, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. LaPosta was honorably discharged on July 15, 1947.
Mr. LaPosta belonged to Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #22; Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post #175, the Alpine Club, The Pulaski Club, Burgettstown VFW and Raccoon Valley Sportsman's Club.
He enjoyed his grandchildren and gardening.
On March 17, 1948, he married Rebecca Jane Hunter, who survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, E. Wayne (Janet) LaPosta and Clayton L. LaPosta, both of Washington; 5 grandchildren, Angela Porter, Kelly Neal, Clayton LaPosta, III, Becky LaPosta and Jamie Knox; and 3 great grandchildren, Aidan and Dylan Knox and Jacob Neal.
Deceased are 6 brothers, Robert, Arthur, Frank, Orlando, Herman and Anthony LaPosta; and 4 sisters, Vera Seal, Virginia Tittle, Florence Cioppa and Ellen Cline.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 21st, with the Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Collier, WV.
