Laura Jean Vaughn

Laura Jean Vaughn, 89, of Washington, died Friday, March 20, 2009, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg. She was born November 21, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of Andrew R. and Laura V. Dillard Henderson. Mrs. Vaughn was a homemaker and member of St. Paul AME Church. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Mrs. Vaughn enjoyed cooking and puzzles. She was the last of her immediate family. On July 29, 1946, she married James H. Vaughn, who died September 17, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. (Willie) Turner of Anaheim, California, and Shirley J. (Richard) Williams of Washington; three grandchildren, Brent Turner of Long Beach, California, Erica Somilleda of Anaheim, California, and Natasha (David) Houston of Pittsburgh; a step-grandchild, Erica M. Williams of McDonald; three great-grandchildren, Xiana Koehler, Tatiana Somilleda and Isaiah Somilleda, all of Anaheim, California; and a host of nieces and nephews Deceased are eight brothers and one sister. Friends will be received 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
