Arthur W. Hunt, a cherished and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at Mercy Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. Born on September 20, 1938, in Washington, PA, Art dedicated much of his life to the service of his country and the well-being of his family.
As a proud veteran of the United States Army, Arthur was honored with numerous accolades for his courageous service during the Vietnam War, including the Bronze Star for his heroic achievements, as well as the Vietnam Service Medal with two bars, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Notably, he had the distinct privilege of providing transportation and security for General Graham Martin, a key figure in U.S. operations in South Vietnam, during the war's final years. This remarkable experience was a testament to Art's commitment and bravery, embodying the spirit of hard work and dedication that defined his life.
Beyond his military service, Arthur was an amazing father, whose love knew no bounds. His son, Scott Hunt, along with daughter-in-law, Deborah Hunt, and beloved granddaughter, Renee Frank, were sources of joy and pride for him. Art’s legacy continues through them, a reflection of the values he instilled and the love he shared.
In addition to his family, Art was known within his community for his unyielding spirit and generosity. He volunteered at Citizens Library, sharing his passion for reading and learning, and was an active member of the West Washington United Methodist Church. His personable nature and genuine connection with others made him a friend to many, and he will be remembered fondly for his kindness.
Art had a particular fondness for his daughter-in-law's spaghetti, which served not only as a delicious meal shared with family but also a symbol of the warmth and togetherness he cherished. He was one of a kind, with a heart as vast as his accomplishments.
Arthur W. Hunt is preceded in death by his parents, Steven Hunt and Leonna Patterson Hunt, who undoubtedly raised a remarkable man whose memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey may have come to an end, but the impact he made during his lifetime will live on in the love of his family and the memories they hold dear. Arthur’s spirit will forever be a guiding light to his loved ones, reminding them to live fully and freely, just as he did.
Art will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. All services will be private per Art's wishes.
