Barbara, J. Gagich, 88, of Washington, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Southminster Place, Washington.
She was born January 15, 1937, in Washington, a daughter of the late Evan Richard Morgan and Effie Hutchison Morgan. She loved where she grew up and spent nearly 80 years living on Springfield Avenue.
Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School.
She was primarily a home maker but also spent time working at the ice rink and swimming pool in Washington Park.
Barbara was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Washington.
She loved to bake and was well known for her cookies. She shared recipes with friends and family and always honored the Pittsburgh cookie table tradition. She loved sending cards to people, making sure to never forget a birthday or special event, and her penmanship was beautiful on every single one. She loved to volunteer, especially for youth cheerleading, baseball, and the Wash High band. She stayed active throughout her life by becoming part of a bowling league and a member of the Washington Senior Center. She was particularly fond of their exercise group, the Silver Sneakers.
On November 27, 1956, in First Christian Church in Winchester, Virginia, she married Dan Gagich. They were married for 68 years before he passed on October 8, 2024.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Regina) Gagich; a daughter, Jeanie (Glenn) Kunkle; six grandchildren, Dan (Lisa) Gagich, Meredith (Nate) Edwards, Amber (Joe) Schmiesing, Doug (Laura) Kunkle, Halie (Adam) Stickle, and Jack (Jacky) Kunkle; seven great-grandchildren, Adeline, Mel, Eli, Maxine, Amelia, Oliver and Camden.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a son, Dan J. (surviving wife, Kathleen) Gagich, six brothers, John Morgan, Evan Morgan, Lawrence Morgan, Harry Morgan, William Morgan, and Richard Morgan; five sisters, Gertrude Taylor, Margaret Richmond, Rachel Kinkel, Mary Ann Guido, and Joan Depaoli.
Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will follow at 3 p.m. Interment will be private in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Senior Center, 69 West Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
