Betty Jean Grim

March 22, 1926 — December 19, 2018

Betty Jean Grim 92, of Washington, PA passed away at her home December 19, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Schriver Haney. She was married 59 years to the late Raymond E Grim, whom she married on December 21, 1945. She is survived by daughter Sandy Hallam, son Denny Grim, brother Gilbert (Paula) Haney of Washington, grandson Jarrod Grim (John) of Brooklynn, NY, granddaughter Ashley (Joe) Testa of Pittsburgh, and step-grandsons Scott and Brandon (Laurie) Blackhurst of Washington, great grandchildren Brady & Brogan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers Robert and Willard Haney. Betty “Jean” was a loving and compassionate woman who always sought out the best in others and had never met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren beyond compare and was always so proud of them. She spent countless hours with them mentoring and caring for them. She was a member of West Washington United Methodist Church and the Lagonda Homemakers. During her illness she met so many wonderful caregivers who all loved her and gave the best care as they would have to their own mother. A special thanks to Dr. Monaco (Neurosurgeon) and his staff at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, their skills allowed her the chance to spend an additional two years with her loved ones, and to Dr. Landenwitsch who always cared for her and allied with other physicians to bring her the best care. We thank on her behalf the special care given to her at home by her cousin, Theresa Miller, as well as Gateway Hospice nurse Ashley Burd, nurse’s aide and good friend Vesta along with Reverend Sue. A special thank you Pastor Gary who was always Betty’s best friend and always brought her comfort and a smile every time they met. Thanks, and blessing to all who shared in her life. So, to all, as she had said a thousand times as she parted with a double hand wave, “LOVE TO ALL” Friends will be received Friday, December 21, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery Chapel.
