Betty Jean Mundell, a beloved soul known for her heart of gold and infectious laughter, passed away on April 3, 2026, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Born on September 22, 1951, in Washington, Pennsylvania, Betty's life was a tapestry woven with love, humor, and an enduring positivity that touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A proud graduate of McGuffey High School, Betty dedicated a significant part of her life to working for Keystone Job Corp., where her commitment and cheerful spirit left a lasting impact. Beyond her professional life, Betty embraced the simple joys that made her spirit shine brightly. She was an avid crafter, finding peace and creativity in her hands. Camping trips allowed her to connect deeply with nature, and her love for animals reflected the kindness and compassion that defined her essence.

Betty’s vibrant personality was characterized by her great sense of humor and her unwavering love of life and family. One cherished memory of her irrepressible spirit recalls moments where, in her playful and affectionate way, she couldn’t resist pinching a cute butt, bringing laughter and warmth to those around her. Her ability to find joy and spread happiness was one of her greatest gifts.

Her greatest pride and accomplishment was the love she held for her family, a love that remained steadfast throughout her life. Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Donald M. Mundell, as well as her sisters Barbara Spohr, Margie Kimmey, Ellmay Kimmey, her brother William Kimmey, and her parents William and Orlanda (Taylor) Kimmey. Their memories live on in her heart and the stories shared by those who loved her.

Betty’s legacy continues through her surviving family: her nieces Patricia Harp, Barbara McGrade, Tammy Handley,Tracy Shafer, and great niece Barbara Spohr as well as her nephews Brian Calvert and William Kimmey. They, along with many friends, were a source of comfort and care, especially in her final days when she was lovingly tended to by her niece.

Friends are invited to the William G. Neals Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave Washington PA on April 13, 2026 at 11AM to 12PM in which time a service will take place and burial to follow at Prosperity cemetery.
