Bradford S. Benner, 61, passed away October 1, 2026, after facing two cancers over seven years. Brad beat head and neck cancer and, despite its life-changing effects, never let it stop him from living or being present with his family. When cancer returned in another form, he faced it with the same strength, humor, and determination.
Born in Modesto, California, Brad proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Desert Storm.
Brad loved his family deeply. He coached his children’s sports and, as “Big Pap Pap,” attended as many of his grandchildren’s events as possible.
Brad is survived by his wife, Michel (Zollars) who he married on January 24, 1986, and enjoyed 40 wonderful years together; children, Kristen (Gabriel) Crawford, Deanna (Jeremy) Wall, and Brandon Benner and partner Teri Kwiatkowski; grandchildren, Aidan, Kellan, Abigail, Benedict, and Elenora Crawford; Connor and Cameron Wall, Liam and Addyson Wehman; Evan Conklin, Elliott and Emma Pettit, and Declan Benner; siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors accorded by the Edward Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and the United States Army. Memorial contributions may be made in Brad’s memory to Family House, 5308 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
