Charles McElhaney, a cherished resident of Washington, PA, passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by the loving care of his devoted daughter, Kelly. Born on November 16, 1943, in Canonsburg, PA. He was the loving son to the late Willard and Marie McElhaney. Buckey lived a life rich with love, generosity, and treasured memories that will remain etched in the hearts of his family and friends.
For more than three decades, Buckey dedicated his career to St. Clair Hospital in the Environmental Department, where he was known for his pleasant disposition and welcoming nature. His genuine kindness extended beyond his professional life; he had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
Buckey was a lover of the great outdoors, relishing weekends spent camping with his wife and friends. These moments in nature were a source of joy and tranquility for him. He was not just a devoted husband and father but also a proud pap pap. His grandchildren, Justin, Shantel, Zachary, Shane, Ocean, Stormy, and Cory, brought him immense happiness. Buckey also delighted in the joy that came with his eight great-grandchildren, who adored him as much as he cherished them.
Living in the country with his daughter Kelly brought Buckey immense joy, allowing him to bask in the beauty of nature and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He had a particular fondness for his daughter’s stuffed peppers, which became a signature dish that he looked forward to.
Buckey leaves behind cherished memories with his loving daughter Kelly. He is survived by his brother Willard McElhaney and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his loving beloved wife Bessie Louise (McVehil) who he married on April 11, 1964 and enjoyed 58 wonderful years together son Charles Oliver McElhaney, his daughter Evelyn Pitzer, son-in-law William Newman Jr., and sister Dorothy Marie Zediker their memories remain a part of the fabric of his life, instilling a sense of warmth and nostalgia that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
