Cherie L. Frank, born on November 15, 1958, in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy enriched with compassion, accomplishment, and cherished memories.

Cherie was the beloved daughter of the late Paul Tragesser and Rita Gniefkowski Tragesser. She is survived by her sons, Bradlee C. (Melissa) Frank and Matthew D. Frank; and her sister, Julie Pastorius.

A proud member of the Thomas Jefferson High School Class of 1976, Cherie pursued her passion for learning by earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Duquesne University. Her commitment to shaping young lives became evident throughout her career, as she dedicated herself to serving at the Pittsburgh Rehab Institute, Catherine Tillotson School, Pace School, and the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Cherie was known for her kindness, helpfulness, and faithfulness—qualities that made her an extraordinary educator and treasured colleague. She possessed a natural love of teaching, always striving to nurture and inspire those around her.

Cherie’s life was characterized by her remarkable vitality and enthusiasm for both sports and the outdoors. She was a NJCAA Region 20 All Conference Tennis Player and Individual Champion—a testament to her athletic skill and dedication. She delighted in completing many 5K marathons, kayaking, tennis, golf, and skiing, and she truly cherished her time in the garden, tending to her plants.

Cherie valued her moments of peaceful reflection and joyful celebration, often found singing in the choir or enjoying time with beloved animals. Her love for travel took her to summer getaways in Cape May, the Outer Banks, and frequent trips to the sun-drenched shores of Sanibel Island and Marco Island in Florida.

Those who knew Cherie will forever remember her as kind and considerate. Her willingness to help others and her unwavering faith left an indelible impression on her children and the many lives she touched. Cherie approached each day with gratitude, energy, and a spirit of generosity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
