Clayton Russell “Russ” Sprowls passed away in his home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and quiet generosity.
Russ was known for his steady presence, warm heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Whether offering practical advice, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a laugh, he was always the first to show up with his tools in hand, ready to help with any handyman project, big or small. He carried himself with humility and integrity, qualities that defined his character.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in time spent with family and friends. Russ had a gift for connection, always showing up when it mattered and giving of himself without expectation. His life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and compassion.
Russ’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Though his absence leaves a profound void, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the example he set will continue to guide those fortunate enough to have shared in his life. Russ graduated from McGuffey High School Class of 1964 and joined the United States Army, serving his country proudly and honorably in Vietnam. After returning home from Vietnam he married the love of his life Roncie (Trasoline) on October 28, 1967 and together they raised their son Anthony Sprowls and daughter Lynn (Jeff) Dutton. He was an amazing grandfather to Bailey (Summer), Brianna (Ethan), Mackenzie, Tristan, DJ, Justice and great grandfather to Piper. He will be missed by his brothers; Ed (Cathy), Art (Dee), Dale (Jamey), David (Rosie) and Darrell (Carol) and sister Darlene. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Russ retired after 20+ years from Bear Construction and enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood, boating, cooking and making his amazing spaghetti sauce that everyone loved. He was a member of the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church, Washington Arms Club, Elm Grove Eagles and Washington American Legion.
