Curtis Fuqua, a beloved, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Washington, Pennsylvania, on March 19, 2026. Born on April 6, 1970, in Washington, PA, Curtis’s life was one marked by love, laughter, and an unyielding dedication to his family and passions. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, yet his vibrant spirit and cherished memories will forever shine bright.
Curtis was a proud graduate of Washington High School’s Class of 1989, where he distinguished himself not only academically but also as a remarkable athlete. Wrestling, football, and baseball were arenas where he thrived, and his enthusiasm extended beyond school sports into his involvement with 4-H, a program that sparked his deep love for horses. This love for horseback riding remained a lifelong interest, emblematic of his enduring connection to nature and the outdoors.
His professional career spanned three decades, beginning in 1996 with Coca Cola, where he dedicated nearly two decades until 2014. Following this, Curtis brought his talents and unwavering work ethic to Perryman Company until 2026. Throughout his career, Curtis was known not just for his commitment to his job but for the warmth and kindness he shared with colleagues and friends, always greeting others with a genuine smile and a quick joke to brighten their day.
What defined Curtis most profoundly was his role as a father. His three daughters—Jasmine (Hailee Heironimus), Alexis, and Keira (Kyle Kindervater) —were his world, his proudest accomplishment, and the center of his heart. Countless weekends were joyfully spent coaching their softball teams, where he was a familiar, encouraging presence. Always ready with a cold Gatorade for the tournaments, Curtis’s support and enthusiasm lifted both players and parents alike. His outgoing nature, boundless love, and ever-present smile made every game an unforgettable experience.
Beyond softball, Curtis’s interests painted a rich tapestry of life well-lived. He was an avid hunter, a devoted fan of Michigan State football, and a passionate golfer. Music and creativity flowed through his veins as a DJ, while his culinary skills delighted many.
Curtis is survived by his loving father, William Fuqua; his sister, Mischele (Anthony Pierce) Fuqua; and brothers Rodney Fuqua and Michael (Angelic Flores) Fuqua. His legacy extends through his nieces Syann Ellis, Tiana Ellis, Jailynn Fuqua, Christina Fuqua, nephews Chandell Fuqua, William “Trois” Fuqua and bonus children Briena (Ky Szewczyk) Coon and Brayden Coon along with many other beloved nieces and nephews. These family ties, nurtured by Curtis’s warmth and generosity, form the foundation of the enduring love he leaves behind.
We also remember with solemn respect those family members who have passed: his mother Deethra (Hodnett) Fuqua, brother William “Red” Fuqua, uncle David Hodnett, and grandmother Claudine Hodnett, all of whom helped shape the man Curtis became.
As we gather to honor Curtis’s memory, family and friends are encouraged to wear the University of Michigan colors—a meaningful tribute to a man whose heart beat Blue and Gold. Through tears and laughter, stories and silence, we hold close the image of Curtis Fuqua: an outgoing, kindhearted soul whose love for his family and life was unmistakable and unwavering.
Curtis’s journey on this earth has ended, but the imprint of his love, joy, and generous spirit will remain with us forever. His smile, his jokes, and his boundless kindness will echo in our hearts, a testament to a life truly well-loved and deeply missed.
