Daniel Edward Kalich, 67, of Washington, passed away on September 21, 2022, at the Donnell House, surrounded by his loved ones. He was known as Dan to his family and friends. Dan was born on November 14, 1954, at Washington Hospital. He is son of the late George Kalich and Frances Garbinski Kalich. The youngest of three children, he is survived by his older brother Andre Kalich, and older sister Josephine Marshman. A 1973 graduate of Trinity High School, Dan attended a local vocation/technical school for computer science. On September 6, 1975, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Lynn Pierce, who survives. They recently celebrated their 47 th wedding anniversary and 50 years of being together. Dan became a father on January 11, 1981 when his son Nicholas was born. He became a father again on May 12, 1983 when his daughter Melissa was born. Being a father was the greatest joy in his life outside of being an excellent Husband to Lynn. Dan became a grandfather for the first time in 2004 when Alexander Hankins was born. He was blessed with more grandchildren with Mason Hankins in 2012 and Benjamin Hankins in 2013. Being a grandfather became the main purpose of his life after his retirement in 2005. Dan spent his working life in several manufacturing facilities in western Pennsylvania. He started at RCA, worked at Ball Glass, and Findlay Refractories. He finished his career working as the plant carpenter for Sony Corporation in New Stanton. A crafty person who was good with his hands, he enjoyed woodworking and home improvement. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and going on ocean cruises. Dan was a member of the Washington Elks Lodge #776, but ultimately his greatest joy was his family, and spending time with them. He was a very compassionate person who was passionate about helping others, and he embarked on several mission trips with North Buffalo Presbyterian Church and did carpentry for the church when it was needed. Deceased, in addition to his parents are a grandson, Alexander Hankins; His son-in-law Marcus Hankins, who he loved like his own child, and his beloved dog Patches. In addition to his wife Lynn, surviving are Dan’s son Nicholas and his wife Allyson. Daughter Melissa Hankins, and her children Mason and Benjamin Hankins. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a kind and generous man.Friends will be received on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2022, followed by a committal at Washington Cemetery.
