Daniel Edward "Luke" McDaniel, 68, of Washington, passed peacefully, to the other side, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Transitions Healthcare, Washington PA, LLC.
He was born on August 14, 1957, a son of the late Robert L. McDaniel and Helen M. Mocklin McDaniel.
Luke attended Washington High School. He worked as a polisher for Penn Mould for 26 years. Clarksville was his home prior to his accident.
On October 9, 2008, Luke sustained an un-helmeted motorcycle accident where he suffered a traumatic brain injury. In April 2009, after lengthy rehabilitation, he was admitted to NeuroRestorative PA in Erie, where he resided for 13 years. He was brought home to Washington in December 2021, where he resided at Transitions Healthcare for 4 years. Luke enjoyed socializing daily with activities, crafts, bingo and parties. His family is very grateful to ALL of the Caregivers that made his life the best it could be.
Before his accident, Luke could be very mischievous. He enjoyed building cabins in the fields behind our backyard on Dewey Avenue with Kosey; hanging out at Wiley's with Dickie and Mac; and camping and riding minibikes. He was a free spirit in life.
Luke loved riding his Triumph motorcycles (Triumph only!), playing pool, watching the Steelers, and blues rocker, Stevie Ray Vaughan. He enjoyed his dogs, gardening, owls and dream catchers. His TV favorites were The Golden Girls, Reba, Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, and the National Geographic Channel. He believed there was a Big Foot.
He is survived by a son he loved deeply, Lucas Daniel McDaniel; three grandchildren, Avery, Coen and Keaton McDaniel; a brother, James (Paula) McDaniel; sister and caregiver, Susan (Edward) Bonus; nephews, Nathan McDaniel, Michael Bonus, James McDaniel, and niece, Emily Bland; and 3 great-nephews and 4 great-nieces.
Luke is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother, Robert "Offy" McDaniel.
God Speed, Brother Luke!
Arrangements are private and entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd.
