Daniel Jordan “DJ” Thompson, II, 41, of Avella, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

He was born on November 10, 1983, in Washington, a son of Daniel Jordan Thompson and Tracy J. (Blayney) McMahon.

DJ attended McGuffey High School and completed his GED.

He worked in construction as a carpenter, running his own business, Thompson & Sons, as well as working for Duerr Property Investments.

He loved building things, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, but most of all, spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, DJ is survived by his longtime companion, Jessica Baker; children, Sophia and Silas; step-daughter, Riley; sisters Tabitha Thompson (Richard) Bryant, Aurora McMahon (Gabe) Lewis-Wright and Morgan Thompson (Rich) McDade; brothers Justin (D’Andrea) Basara and Hunter McMahon; grandmother Darlene Blayney, maternal aunt Bobbi Blayney-Gantt; paternal aunt Mildred Thompson and uncle Chuck (Kim) Thompson; nieces and nephews Blake, Luna, Quinn, and Liam; maternal cousins Ian, Aubree, Elijiah, and Jaiden; paternal cousins Roni, Chaz, Mindy, Nick, and Leah; his best buddy--his dog Ozzy; and dear lifelong friends Coty Ammons and Karen Duerr.

He is predeceased by maternal grandfather Robert Blayney; paternal grandparents Ron and Nancy Thompson; and maternal aunt Kim Wood.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate DJ’s life from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington where services will follow at 3p.m.

A wake will immediately follow in the event room at Jose’s, 227 S. Main Street, Washington for those who loved DJ to come together for a meal while sharing stories and fond memories.
