Darin Ory Reece, born on November 24, 1989, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2026, in West Virginia. Darin’s sudden departure has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, yet his legacy as a hardworking, caring, and loving man will endure through the lives he touched.
Darin was a proud coal miner for 15 years, dedicating himself to his demanding career with dedication and pride. More than just a skilled worker, he was a great teacher and mentor to the younger coal miners, offering guidance and support that extended beyond the workplace. His willingness to share knowledge and encourage others spoke volumes about his generous spirit and deep commitment to those around him.
A graduate of Wahama Senior High School, Darin distinguished himself early on as a multi-state champion golfer, showcasing his adventurous nature and competitive spirit. His passions were many and varied: from turkey hunting to golfing, camping, attending concerts, and most importantly, spending time with his children. These interests reflected a man who embraced life fully, always seeking new experiences and joy in the company of others.
Darin’s personality was a rare blend of selflessness, loving care, and unwavering dedication. He was an exceptional father—steadfast and nurturing—and a devoted husband to his wife, Kelly (D'Agaro). his children, Kaydee and Logan, they formed the center of Darin’s world. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, inspiring those around him with his kindness and strength.
He is survived by a close-knit family who will carry his memory with them: his father, Phillip Reece; mother and stepfather, Tonya (Iams) and Darrell Sayre; Grandmother Marylin Swarts, parents-in-law, Debra and Daniel Maffei; brothers Shawn (Megan) and Brian Reece; sister Hannah (Bobby) Rice; nephews Wyatt, Gage, Ayden, and Mason and Niece Lillian; brothers-in-law Kevin D'Agaro and Bryan Brookman; and sister-in-law Erin D'Agaro. In addition, Darin’s life was enriched by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends who shared in his journey. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and paternal grandmother, whose memories he held dear.
His adventurous spirit, his unwavering dedication to family and friends, and his generous heart will remain a guiding light, inspiring all who knew him to live with the same courage and love that defined his days.
Though Darin Ory Reece’s journey was tragically cut short, the impact of his kindness, mentorship, and love endures. He will be remembered not only as a proud coal miner and champion golfer but as a man whose character shone brightly in every facet of his life. His legacy is a testament to the power of a life lived fully, selflessly, and with boundless love.
Friends are invited to the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave Washington PA on Friday April 10, 2026 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday April 11, 2026 at 11AM at the funeral home.
