Dennis “Denny” Patrick McGurgan, 69, of Washington, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born September 26, 1955, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Raymond McGurgan and Ruth Harte McGurgan.
Denny was a graduate of Carmichaels High School and a 1980 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.
While living near Washington D.C., he worked for and retired from Amtrack Auto Train as an On-board Service Attendant. The auto train traveled from Lorton, Virginia, to Sanford, Florida. This 16-to-18-hour overnight trip is the only motorail service in the United States.
He was quite an entrepreneur. For years he was a PADI Scuba diver instructor in Marathon Key, Florida. He owned and operated his own scuba diving school for individual certifications. He then went back to tech school and after graduation opened his own company in Washington, PA, called Computer Medics, where he was affectionately known as “Doctor Denny,” working with various businesses and individuals on their computer and electronics. His final retirement was with Computer Medics.
Denny’s pride and joy was his son, Brendan, who he raised on his own to become a fine, accomplished young man. Brendan also graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, just like his Dad.
Also left to cherish his memory are his sister, Jeanann Clements (Ronald); his 94-year-old uncle, Bill Walton; many cousins; and his best buddy, his dog, Stormy.
To his friends and acquaintances alike, Denny was a fun loving, kind, warm and caring jokester who made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
