Dennis Andrew Koman, 79, of Washington, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in the Donnell House. He was born August 26, 1943, a son of the late Andrew and Julie Lazorchak Koman. Dennis graduated from Canon-McMillan High School, a member of the Class of 1962. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and earned his Associates Degree in Engineering, as well as took classes at both the Community College of Allegheny County and Washington & Jefferson College. Dennis was Roman Catholic by faith and attended the St. Hillary Roman Catholic Church of the St. James Parish. On July 22, 1967, Dennis married the love of his life, Edwina Popovich Koman, who survives. During his younger years, Dennis played baseball, and was an assistant trainer and equipment operator for the PONY Baseball League. Dennis enjoyed reading, loved attending his grandson's sporting events, and just being with his family in general. Dennis was a proud veteran of the United States Army and continued to serve his people and fellow veterans throughout his life. He was a service officer for the American Legion in Pittsburgh. Dennis was a member of the American Legion Post #175, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #191 of Canonsburg and was previously a 25th District Commander from 2017-2019. He loved helping veterans with his service work in any way he could. Surviving, along with his wife, Edwina, are a daughter, Denice (Ray) Cunningham; a grandson, John (Angel) Payton; and two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Zoey Payton; a brother, Edward (Donna) Koman; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Dennis in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents; a granddaughter, Kayla Payton; and four siblings, Dorothy Telep, Margaret Dichak, William Koman, and his twin, David Koman. Friends and family will gather from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 20, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington, where a blessing service will be held at noon Monday, November 21, with Father Tom Lewandowski officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at the funeral home. Interment will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
