Dolores "Jean" Craig

With heavy hearts and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Jean Craig, who departed this life peacefully on July 27, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on October 11, 1934, Jean’s journey was marked by resilience, humor, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Jean was the beloved daughter of the late Andrew Sosnak and Delphia (Wright). She grew up in a family that cherished togetherness and instilled in her the enduring values of hard work and compassion. After graduating from Centerville High School, Jean embarked on her professional path as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone, bringing both skill and warmth to her role. She went on to serve as a waitress for 21 unforgettable years at the Red Bull Inn and Curinga’s Inn in Washington.

A tireless worker by nature, Jean later became co-owner and operator, alongside her husband Frank and son Doug, of Craig’s Rustic Inn in Bridgeville. From 1987 to 2002, she poured her heart into the restaurant, ensuring that every guest was treated like family.

Her love for life shone through in her personal passions and family traditions. Jean possessed a spirit described best as a “feisty firecracker”—she had a knack for telling it like it was, never afraid to speak her mind, always doing so with a unique blend of candor and kindness. Her sense of humor was matched only by her giving nature and tireless dedication to her loved ones. She often said she didn’t want a visitation because, in her own words, “if they can’t come and see me alive, they don’t need to come and see me dead.” That playful clarity was Jean to her core.

Jean’s heart belonged first and foremost to her family. She found immense joy in preparing family meals and celebrating birthdays together. Some of her fondest recent memories were made attending church with those she loved. Her recent baptism at Arise Christian Fellowship was a deeply meaningful milestone in her spiritual journey.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her children: sons Doug and Shannon Craig, Ronald and Nichole McGrady; and daughter Marsha Dunn. She was a loving, proud grandmother to Justin McGrady, CJ McDonald, Andy McDonald, and Brittni McGrady.

Jean is reunited in peace with those who went before her: her much-loved parents, Andrew and Delphia; her husband of 57 years, Frank Craig, as well as her first husband Herb McGrady; brother, Jerry Parshel; and sister, Elaine Conaway.

Amid her many interests, Jean found delight in the excitement of horse racing at the Meadows with Marsha, the challenge of a complex puzzle, and the rush and glamour of Las Vegas and New York with her husband Frank, especially when tied to their favorite pastime: seeing Frank Sinatra live, which they experienced together a remarkable ten times.

As we say goodbye, we hold close the memories of her feisty spirit, her relentless love, and the countless ways big and small that she made the world brighter for those around her.

A graveside service will take place on Monday at 1:45PM. Please meet at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes LTD., on Monday at 1:15PM. Burial to follow at Washington Cemetery.
