Dolores Elaine Humes Vernon passed away peacefully in her home, on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the age of 92. She was born on October 8, 1925, in Bethel Park, to the late Thomas and Mildred George Humes. Dolores married the love of her life, Warren Donald Vernon, on December 19, 1944. Together they raised their family, to whom she dedicated her life. Mrs. Vernon graduated from Monongahela High School, and was a member of Avery United Methodist Church. She cherished her friends and neighbors, and enjoyed their neighborhood luncheons. Dolores loved, and appreciated her neighbor of fifty years, Marie Naser, who always kept a close eye on her. In addition to her love for her family and friends, she loved being in her kitchen cooking and baking, and took such pride in her home. She was truly a special lady, who made such an impression on everyone who met her. We are all blessed to have had her in our lives, and she will be deeply missed. Surviving are her two sons, Thomas (Kathy) Vernon, and Greg Vernon; a granddaughter, Natasha (Blake) Brandenburg; a great grandson, Bryson Brandenburg; a sister-in-law, Virginia Humes; and several nieces and nephews. She was welcomed to Heaven by her loving husband, Warren D. Vernon; three sisters, Dorothy Messner, Erma Stilley, and Lucille Drenik, a brother, George Humes, and a lifelong friend, and cousin, Lois Middleton. Friends will be received on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA. Burial will follow in the Washington cemetery.
