Donna Mounts, a nurturing soul whose life was marked by kindness, dedication, and unwavering love, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, with her family by her side. Born on June 27, 1932, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Donna’s journey touched the hearts of many, embodying the very essence of compassion and strength.
From a young age, Donna demonstrated both independence and a curiosity that would carry her through a remarkable life. She graduated as the May Queen from Washington High School in 1950, a vivid testament to her radiant spirit and the admiration she inspired in those around her. Not long after, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Her career touched many lives as she dedicated years of service to long-term care facilities, always putting patients’ needs ahead of her own and approaching her work with an open heart.
Donna treasured her family above all else. Her proudest accomplishments were her children, Cathy and Kenny. Her relationship with them was the cornerstone of her life, defined by unconditional love and boundless support. She delighted in moments spent shopping at the mall and traveling with her daughter, creating cherished memories woven with laughter and warmth. Her bond with her son was enriched by travels to Washington to visit him, and along her journey, she explored the grandeur of national parks, the serene beauty of Alaska, and the tropical allure of Hawaii—each trip a testament to her adventurous spirit.
Raised by her Aunt Rhea and Uncle Roy Reigh, She was the loving daughter of the late Glenn and Frances (Peters) Long, Donna carried with her the legacy of love and resilience imparted by those who shaped her early life.
Donna’s passing leaves a void felt deeply by her children, Cathy (John) Swauger and Kenneth Mounts of Olympia, Washington, who carry her love and lessons in their hearts. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the gentle touches she offered, and the countless lives she brightened through her nursing and her spirit.
As we remember Donna Mounts, we hold close the image of a woman who embodied grace, independence, and immense generosity. She taught us the true meaning of care—not just in her profession, but in every aspect of her remarkable life.
The family would like to thank the Communities at Indian Haven for all their love, care and support. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to stjude.org or nationalparks.org in loving memory of Donna.
