Dottie Marie (Rush) Legerski, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Washington, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a cherished legacy of love, family, and spirited determination. Born on July 7, 1927, in Washington, she lived a full and vibrant life defined by her unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and the passions that brought her joy.

A proud graduate of Trinity High School’s Class of 1946, Dottie was famously known as the high school "Drum Majorette," a role that perfectly captured her lively spirit and magnetic presence. Her go-getter attitude and social butterfly nature endeared her to many, and it was those qualities that carried her through years of working in customer service at K-Mart, where she became a familiar and friendly face.

She was married to Chester Adam Legerski on September 17, 1950, a partnership that lasted until his passing on April 5, 1999. Together, they built a family that brought endless joy and fulfillment to her life.

Surviving Dottie is her beloved daughter Maureen (late James) Harris,  her granddaughters Tracy Petit, Teresa Galentine, and Tina Santoro. Her legacy extends further through her seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Dottie’s memories brimmed with joyful moments, including attending the first four Steeler Super Bowls as a devoted Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She was an enthusiastic participant in gatherings where laughter and camaraderie reigned, often engaging in spirited games of bingo, another reflection of her love for connection and fun.

She was born into a family rich with stories and sacrifice she was the loving daughter of James and Lana (Fox) Rush, she was the loving sister to her brothers William Rush and John Rush, who was KIA in World War II, and her sister Mary Passaro. 

Dottie Marie Legerski’s journey was one of strength, perseverance, and boundless affection. Those who knew her remember a woman with a big attitude and a generous heart, who cherished her family above all else. 

Graveside service will take place on May 7, 2026 at Holy Trinity National Cemetery at 11AM.   Services are entrusted by the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA
