Evelyn Brown Hoechstetter, 88, of Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Southminster Place, Washington.
She was born July 29, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia, a daughter of the late Harold Brown and Evelyn Sweeney Brown.
Evelyn was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Springs in Columbus, Ohio, and earned an associate’s degree from Columbus State College in Ohio.
She was a respiratory therapist and spent her entire career working at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Evelyn enjoyed traveling and gardening. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Her first husband, David Griffith O’Brien, passed away in 2001, and her second husband, Michael Hoechstetter, passed away July 7, 2013.
Surviving are a son, David (Kelly) O’Brien of Logan, Ohio; a daughter, Kathy (Bob) Hedges; stepchildren Rick (Lynn) Hoechstetter, Sharon (the late Paul) Mech and Lisa (Jeff) Hoechstetter; grandchildren Sarah (Derrick) Hedges, Emily (Dan) Keener, Rebekah (Michael) Brooks, Joshua (Rachel) O’Brien, David (Emily) O’Brien III, Ben O’Brien, Rob (Courtney) O’Brien Jr., and Brad (Sarah) Beaver; step grandchildren Christopher (Hilary) Hoechstetter, Wolf Mech, Riley Mech and Nova Mech; great-grandchildren, Devin, Dylin (Evan), Siddaly (Gavin), Daniel, Jameson, Killian, Ronan, and Fiadh; as well as many dear friends and family.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, are a son, William “Rob” Robert O’Brien; a daughter, Laura Hummel; two brothers, Harold Brown and James Brown.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, 8029 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
